1. 2-3 Day Refund Window

2. How to Request a Refund

Follow these steps:

  3. Include the following information:
    • Your SmartCognizer account email
    • Order/receipt number (from Razorpay email)
    • Date of the charge you want refunded

⚠️ Note: Your bank may take additional time to reflect the credit. Please allow up to 10 business days total before contacting us.

4. What Happens After Refund

  • Your subscription is cancelled immediately
  • Your account is downgraded to Free plan
  • You keep access to Free plan features until you delete your account
  • No pro-rata refunds for partial usage before cancellation

💡 Tip: If you only need access for a short period, consider our monthly plan instead of annual — you can cancel after your needed period without requesting a refund.

5. Non-Refundable Items

❌ The following are NOT refundable:

  • Charges older than 3 days (from the charge date)
  • Custom development work
  • Professional services (if any)
  • Free plan (no payments made)

Important Exception for Recurring Subscriptions

For recurring subscription renewals, the 2-3 day refund window applies to each renewal charge. Example: If your annual plan renews on Jan 1, you have until Jan 3 to request a refund for that renewal charge.

6. Disputed Charges

If you dispute a charge with your bank (chargeback) without requesting a refund from us first:

  • We may suspend your account until the dispute is resolved
  • If the dispute is resolved in our favor, you owe any bank fees incurred (typically ₹500-₹2,000)
  • We reserve the right to terminate accounts with repeated chargebacks

Recommendation: Always contact us first at support@smartcognizer.com before filing a dispute with your bank. We will resolve most refund requests faster than your bank's dispute process.

7. Cancellation vs Refund — Important Distinction

8. Failed Payments & Refunds

If your payment fails due to insufficient funds, expired card, or bank decline:

  • We do not charge any late fees or penalties
  • Your subscription is suspended until payment is updated
  • You will not receive a refund for the failed payment (no payment was taken)
  • If you resolve the payment method within 15 days, your subscription resumes with no data loss

A: No. Setup fees, custom development, and professional services are non-refundable once work has begun.

Q: I paid annually but want to cancel after 6 months — can I get a pro-rata refund?

A: No. We do not offer pro-rata refunds. Your annual subscription provides access for the full 12 months. If you cancel mid-term, you retain access until the term ends.

Q: How long does Razorpay take to process refunds?

A: Razorpay typically processes refunds within 3-5 business days after our approval. Your bank may take an additional 2-5 business days to reflect the credit.
